The Out Barn wedding at Clough Bottom

The Out Barn wedding at Clough Bottom. These crazy cats (Thomas and Joanna) chose to hold their wedding at their home church in Ribchester. They then moved the party (reception) to The Out Barn, Clough Bottom.

As a Wedding Photography venue a Clough Bottom wedding at The Out Barn is one of my favourites. It has been amazing to see the wedding venue develop since being built. The family who own the farm have worked tirelessly to constantly improve the wedding photo opportunities. The addition of new trees and clearing areas to improve the views along with planting the meadow has made a big difference.

The Out Barn meadow!

They are gaining a reputation for the wild flower meadow to the front of The Out Barn windows. The field of flowers and grasses leads your eye to the amazing views of Pendle. This is clearly one the best photo spots for amazing wedding pictures.

Relaxed photography at The Out Barn

From a photographer’s perspective; views are great but once you have the picture of you two with the Pendle in the background what next? The difference here is an Out Barn wedding with its meadows, barns and bridges means you can explore and create a wide variety of pretty pictures whatever the weather!

My video guide to the best spots for wedding photos at The Out Barn:

“Thank you so so much, we adore the pictures! You’re awesome! Just about to show them to all the family now!
Thank you so much for being so brilliant and patient with us on the day too! “

My Approach to wedding photography at The Out Barn

There was so much going on at Joanna & Tom’s wedding just capturing what was happening kept me very busy all day. Most couples love how I just let them get on with enjoying their day. It was really nice that Thomas had plenty of suggestions for ‘poses’ he might want to do so the pictures ended up being a great mix of natural moments and the couple’s fun personalities playing to the camera.

It can’t go unmentioned that Joanna & Tom shared their wedding date with another certain couple of the royal persuasion!

Wedding details

Joanna wore a gorgeous Caroline Castigliano wedding Dress. This dress with the slightly ‘Dolce & Gabbana’ hair and make-up made me smile – a lot.

Thomas was rightly proud of his Whitfield and ward suit. I see more and more grooms taking the opportunity to have a tailor made suit for their wedding and I can’t recommend it enough. Unlike a wedding dress you can actually wear it again, practically!

After a lovely marriage ceremony at Ribchester Church Joanna & Tom commandeered the local ice cream van which was a welcome break from the heat.

A blank canvas

An Out Barn wedding at Clough Bottom has the advantage of being a really flexible space, a bit of blank canvas really. Joanna & Tom did an amazing job in designing a simple yet elegant reception theme keeping to a minimal palette of natural colours and gold with statement flowers.

As the sun set, the party started and the entire wedding party set the pace with a brilliant choreographed dance.

Some of the final shots of the day are where you recreate the end scene from Grease complete with music streamed from a bridesmaids phone… pretty standard.
