Sarah and Andrew like to take part in triathlons and iron man challenges and those kind of activities that look like they hurt a lot so it wasn’t a huge surprise when they said they were holding their wedding in the lake district. What I wasn’t expecting, as I drove up the side of a mountain only seeing hill walkers, was the beautifully desolate Coppermines & Lakes Cottages. It sort of feels like you are on Mars but with amazing views of Coniston and Coniston water! with the rugged landscapes of the lake district not so great weather can be good for photography as a few dramatic skies can make for interesting pictures but the Coppermines had different ideas and baked us in sunshine all day. Sarah & Andrew were married at St Andrews church in Coniston and held their reception at the Coppermines Cottages in a marqee overlooking the old mines. Being the adventurous type I had a feeling it wouldn’t take much convincing to get Sarah and Andrew in the river… they were in before I could say “have you got your wellies” This has to be one of the most interesting wedding venues I have photographed and reminded me of how beautiful the lakes can be.
