Kingsettle stud weddings

Kingsettle stud is a very unique wedding venue within the (really massive) grounds of a historic estate in Cholderton near Stonehenge. I have a long standing love for the weddings I photograph in and around Somerset due to the rustic rural setting. I seem to be drawn to the greenery around any wedding venue and at Kingsettle Stud it’s basically all rustic and green!

Weddings at Kingsettle Stud

Kingsettle stud really lends itself to couples who want a wedding with zero formality. Trish and Kevin held their reception drinks in a clearing near a small lake with only a tiny out-building to mark the location. This lack of boundaries extends when you move up to the farm where the stable buildings have been kept open plan with few doors. The ultimate relaxed and rustic setting for a wedding.

Trish and Kevin do things their own way. I met them for their pre wedding shoot on a wind swept beach somewhere near the New Forest. The pre wedding shoot gave me a great insight to how their wedding day would unfold. Although, clearly lots of planning had gone in to the wedding, Trish and Kevin managed to pull off that perfect balance of planning but then being able to relax and enjoy the day itself.

St Nicholas church Cholderton

Before arriving at Kingsettle stud, the wedding itself took place at St Nicholas church. This place is really stunning. Surrounded by quaint buildings and archways it’s a wedding photography dream. Trish had arranged to place a flower arch at the entrance to the Church which we just had to use so some couple portraits.

One of my favourite moments of the wedding was seeing Kevin stood waiting at the alter whilst his team of best men and woman made it their mission to make him more nervous than he already was!

Wedding Photography at Kingsettle Stud

This place is huge. If you had a week long wedding you still wouldn’t be able to use all the good photo spots for your wedding photographs. Although the overall feel is rustic rural there are plenty of options for all lighting and weather conditions.

This was a super sunny day and this influenced how I chose to use the wedding venue for photographs but these are some of my favourite spots.

The meadows and Arboretum are like nothing I have seen before at a wedding venue. The management of Kingsettle Stud gives a truly natural feel and the wild life meadows are teaming with butterflies and dragonflies. They have allowed the grasses to grow tall – a dream come true.

The stables at Kingsettle stud have this unique feature that casts light in to the stables intermittently. The kind of thing we wedding photographers love to find! All of the buildings around the courtyard have a real rustic feel. Any wall, doorway or door make for great backgrounds to contrast against your dress.

The WeddingReception

Trish & Kevin are lucky enough to have many talented friends. The music, speeches and dancing were all pretty exceptional! The lack of doors at a Kingsettle Stud means that the dancing and party naturally spill out in to the courtyard as the sun starts to set. Guests were relaxing and chatting around the courtyard in to the dark hours.
